Overview
Short stories are hard work! Especially when they turn into novellas. The first story in the short story collection is already at 20,000 words. This means I might limit the collection to three stories, which will still practically be another book.
My shoulder continues to be a problem and I just got the results back from the X-ray and Ultrasound and they found nothing. No idea what’s going on my shoulder. Back to the drawing board.
Not too many dogs this month, but the dogs that did come were here for a long time, so I wasn’t alone too often. The dog walks are a great way to listen to podcasts (Joanna Penn is my favourite for authors), and audio books (finished The Art of Racing in the Rain and loved it!).
Writing Status
Another insanely busy month.
Writing: I’m continuing to work on the short story collection. The first story is already over 20,000 words. I realize this means I’ll probably limit the collection to three stories, but I’ll see how it goes. It’s going to be like getting another book!
Editing: I’ve been working hard on the characters and plot for The Collective. After outlining the entire trilogy, I realized I had to adjust some plot elements and flush out the story further. This has taken countless hours to do, but I’m really happy with how it’s going and have started working on draft eight of the book. I expect this book will go back to a copy editor, since I made so many changes since the last time an editor worked on it. I’m very excited about the final product.
Marketing: Working on building a steady stream of social content on a few platforms to build a larger audience. I wrote an article on finding your next book with AI.
Books on the Go
The Genesis Project:
Manuscript: The short story collection is underway! Or is it the novella collection? Over 20,000 words in the first story. It’s been a lot of fun to write.
Publication: The pre-sale for the book will be out later in May and hopefully publishing everywhere books are sold in June.
Armageddon’s Descendants – Book 1: The Collective
Manuscript: The outline for the trilogy is complete. I’m now back to editing book one with plot elements that need some adjusting and characters that needed to be flushed out more. This is going to make the book much stronger!
Knights of Truipis:
Manuscript: The first draft is completed. I’ll go back to this one likely in 2025.
Date of Death:
Manuscript: The first draft is complete at just over 104,000 words! I really enjoyed writing this book and wrapping it up. It’s going to go in the cue for a little while before I can get to draft two.
