August Writing Reflections
Overview
August is out the window. Who needed summer anyway? Cooler weather and Fall adventures await.
What’s with Titan in that photo up there? He’s distracting me from a workout by wanting to cuddle in the gym. And how could I say no? I did make him run a 10km that morning.
I’m getting closer to the launch of the Kickstarter for The Collective, but not as fast as I’d like to. Setbacks in injuries have distracted me, along with spending more time cooking higher quality food and exercising more. I had to get those hours somewhere, so it came out of my writing bucket. I’ve always thought that if I really wanted to do something, I could find the time to do it. But what if I have to do a lot of somethings, and there literally aren’t enough hours in a day, even if I work from the moment I wake up to before I go to bed? The jury is out on that.
Highlight of August is hearing back from my editor and how much she loved the stories I’ve written. She has no vested interest in saving my feelings, so hearing great things about my upcoming stories gives me a boost of excitement that more and more people might pick it up and love it.
Publishing Status
Writing: It’s been a very successful month of writing. I’m now 50,000 words into book two of The Armageddon’s Descendants trilogy (currently titled The Chosen). At this pace, the book will be complete by the end of September / early October, which is amazing. Although this has impacted editing the first draft and preparing for the Kickstarter.
If you haven’t read The Genesis Project, what are you waiting for? Buy it here!

Editing: The Collective is currently being edited by me. The plan will be to finish this draft of editing, then send it off for a small print run to go through again, then launch the Kickstarter. Hopefully the Kickstarter launches on October 1st alongside another favorite author of mine, who also writes thrillers, Joanna Penn (but this Kickstarter happens to be a horror novel – check it out here).
The short stories and novellas came back from my editor with a lot of positive feedback, though does need a little work. I’ll be getting down to work on those stories in the coming weeks.
Marketing: Once again, marketing takes a bit of a back seat. I don’t post on social too much at the moment because I’m so busy getting all these books ready for publication. Once these are all out in the world, I’ll try to focus on promotions again. There isn’t a lot of return for the time invested. It’s a long game that I’d rather have a bunch of books prepared for, than one book for people to find.
Books on the Go
The World of The Genesis Project:
Manuscript: Two short stories and two novellas came back from the editor. I’ll be working on the edits for these books in the coming weeks, hoping to have it wrapped up by October.

Armageddon’s Descendants – Book 1: The Collective

Manuscript: The first draft is completed. I’ll go back to this one likely in 2025.
Date of Death:
